 Plymouth Weight training

Summary

21 year old, British Indian powerlifter, hoping to inspire south asian women to get involved in sports.

Description

I’m a 21 year old powerlifter, British Indian, doing my masters at LSE whilst balancing competing and coaching as an athlete.

The simplest reason for sponsoring me is that I don’t see women like me on sport at all. South Asian women are some of the most underrepresented women in the world in sport, and I am one of the only indian women in powerlifting in the UK, and I’m sure globally that’s a similar stat. I’ve only been training for a year but I’m already qualified for national competitions, and in a year or so, looking to compete at a European level or further. I would have been so inspired to see someone like me as a sponsored athlete. Also, powerlifting is a hugely growing sport, and is not yet saturated with sponsorships- which might be be beneficial for you too. I am also a great british powerlifting federation qualified coach, and a student athlete, doing my masters at the london school of economics, and head coach/ women’s captain of LSE Barbell club.

Our preferred sponsor

My ideal sponsor would be a company hoping to appeal to a more diverse audience and would be more interested in the social media aspect of the sport.

Key figures for sponsors

I have a tiktok that I have been somewhat posting for the past couple of months, and it’s grown to about 2200 followers, with a couple of viral videos that have been about me being a indian female athelete, reaching around 70-100K. Each Video I post has average 2000-5000 view, and I’d be happy to put more effort into social media. If I can compete at British junior nationals, the event will be live streamed and have an audience of around 300, and maybe a further 100/200 watching live. I am already qualified for the  British university championships, which will have maybe 200 watching live but again 100/200 streaming it. The biggest part will be social media coverage and videos by athletes after these events. Powerlifting is still a new sport, but it’s growing rapidly and I think this is a brilliant time for sponsorship, as there are 2 firms that dominate powerlifting sponsorship with very little competition.
