Description
My name is Joey Gonzales, and I’m a 30-year-old inline speedskater and coach from Waco, TX. I’ve been skating since I was 13, training under Hall of Famers Charles and Gypsy Lucas. In my youth, I set records, raced in France’s Trois Pistes, and competed against the world’s best in Germany. By 17, I was aiming for the Olympics in short track ice skating—but at 18, a car accident changed everything. A cracked skull, brain damage, and a titanium plate in my head led to years of recovery. In 2023, I made a full comeback, medaling at Indoor Nationals and coaching beginners, growing our club from 3 to 24 skaters. Now, I’m training harder than ever, aiming to become a National and World Champion. My journey is one of resilience, passion, and grit—and I’m ready to achieve greatness with your support.
