The dream of breaking 300
My dream is to break the paced cycling landspeed world record on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, which was set in 1995 by fellow dutchman and mentor Fred Rompelberg, and raised to 296km/h in 2018. Cycling at these speeds requires a lot of dedication and preperation. I have already gathered a lot of technical knowledge on the preparation of the car an bicycle, as well as my preparation as a rider. I am however looking for sponsors to support this project to make it a reality.
Why am I aiming at this record?
As a former semi-professional cyclist I have the motivation and determination to push through difficult moments and push the limits of my body.
As a medical doctor specialized in preventative lifestyle medicine I want to inspire people to come into action, to show how a goal that seems big and unaittanable can be reached by hard work and a step-by-step approach.
As a human I want to do this in a healthy way in connection with the people around me, a balance I've struggled with and learned about in the past as a high level competitive athlete.
Why do I think I can break this record?
I have past experience in diverse extreme sports events, such as road cycling mass sprints, fixed gear bike races, a human powered submarine and a human powered aerodynamic recumbent. I am very dedicated and goal oriented, have great bike handling skills and am almost fearless when riding a bike.
Why is this an interesting project to support?
This record has the potential to reach millions of cycling and motorsport enthusiasts across the world, as shown by the last record in 2018. There are also multiple areas for advertisement, both online and offline. There is space for sponsors on the car, fairing, clothing and helmet.
Our preferred sponsor
An adventurous company/sponsor who also aims to push boundaries and show what dedicated effort and passion can bring.
